Why vintage clothing?
Simply put, vintage pieces are a fashion-forward and less wasteful choice. We hand select items to ensure that what we feature fits a modern, urban lifestyle and outlook. All of our clothing and accessories are in fantastic condition and are truly one-of-a-kind. We define vintage as garments and accessories coming from the 1920s - 1980s.

How does sizing work?

We measure at the sleeve length, waist, chest, and general length. All measurements are taken in inches. To ensure that our merchandise will fit, measure an item of your own that fits well, making sure to take these measurements while the garment is laying flat.

Do you design the clothing yourself?
No. All items are hand selected from across the US. 

Do you sell internationally?
Yes! Shipping is one flat rate everywhere! In the US, we ship via USPS First Class. For all international sales, we use USPS First Class. .

What kind of payment do you accept?

We currently accept only Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express credit card payments, as well as Paypal payments. We do not accept personal checks, cash, money orders, or direct bank transfers. All prices on our site are listed in US dollars, and charged in US dollars. For currency conversions, the exact exchange rate that you will pay is determined by the bank that has issued your credit card, but in general it will match very closely with the going exchange rates. Making a credit card purchase is just as safe on our web site as it is by telephone. But if you prefer to order merchandise from the website by phone, call toll-free 1-888-663-2266 and we will place your order for you.

What happens once I place my order?

Protecting your online order information on Avant Gaudy is very important to us. In our shopping checkout process, we use Secure Socket Layering (SSL), the industry-standard encryption technology that ensures the safety and security of your online order. When the letters "http" in the URL address change to "https," the "s" indicates you are in a secure area employing SSL.

Please be advised that once an order has been shipped, we are unable to make any modifications to the order including cancellations. You will receive an order confirmation once your order has been successfully transmitted.

Do you have a return policy?

Avant Gaudy is one of the very few vintage stores online that accepts returns with no questions asked, within 14 days after receiving your items. If you are unimpressed with your purchase, you can return the item back to us and receive a full refund via Paypal. First, request your Return Request Number (RRN) through our Contact Us page. Once your RRN has been issued, return items back with the RRN clearly visible on the outside of the box. All return shipments must be sent via USPS with tracking and in original packaging.

Once we receive your package, your refund will be processed in the original form of payment within 5 business days. You will be notified via email when this transaction has taken place. Please note that your banking institution may require additional days to process and post this transaction to your account.

Do you have any retail locations?
Avant Gaudy operates at AvantGaudy.com, and for the summer we are also accepting visitors to our Chicago showroom by appointment. Give us a call to setup a visit!

How do the gift certificates work?
We offer gift certificates on a predetermine dollar amounts on our site. You may add this item to your cart and proceed to checkout for purchase. After purchase, you may then email the gift certificate to a friend with a personalized note. Gift certificates can be used for any purchase online and do not expire.

To redeem a gift certificate you must first activate the link included in your gift certificate message. After you have activated the link, the gift certificate balance will show up in your account. When making a purchase the available gift certificate balance will show up in the payment checkout page, simply choose the amount you would like to apply towards your purchase and continue checkout.

I'm purchasing this item as a gift, can I add any special touches to the package?
If you would like your Avant Gaudy item to be gift wrapped, leave us a note in the “Special instructions” comment box in your shopping cart and a customer services representative will follow up with you. 

How much is shipping?
Avant Gaudy provides flat rate shipping everywhere! No matter how much you purchase, you can enjoy a flat $5.00 shipping free.

Domestic Sales
In the US, we ship via USPS First Class. All orders include delivery confirmation. Shipping can be tracked with a USPS tracking number. Please allow one day to receive a tracking number. We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages or packages delayed by the postal service.

International Sales
For all international sales, we use USPS First Class. Shipping can be tracked with a USPS customs tracking number. Please allow one day to receive a customs tracking number.

We do not cover taxes or duty on international shipments that are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Customs policies vary widely from country to country therefore we cannot predict what they will be. Please contact your local customs office for further information.

What about taxes?

Illinois residents only must pay 10.25% sales tax. This is handled automatically at checkout.
